The ADA annual general meeting will be held for the first time outside the province of Quebec on Saturday October 3rd. The meeting will take place at the Library and Archives Canada, 395 Wellington St., Ottawa, a very beautiful and prestigious facility close to Parliament Hill. Home of the Canadian Genealogy Centre, and with free parking on weekends, we will have use of the auditorium, two luxurious foyers and a dining room seating 96 people. The 2009 meeting will be an all-day event.
10AM – Genealogy Kiosk
Members of the Dubé family and the general public are invited to visit our genealogy kiosk in the auditorium foyer for queries between 10AM and 4PM. This service is free of charge. The association’s family history and genealogy book containing over 21,000 family groups will be for sale as well as memberships. Refreshments will be served.
1PM – City Bus Tour
Visitors to the region can enjoy a 90 minute trolley bus tour of the cities of Ottawa and Gatineau. Participants who have previously registered for the ADA group fare are asked to meet in the foyer at half-past noon for a departure from LAC at 1pm.
3PM – Meeting Registration
Registration for the meeting will start at 3pm. The meeting begins at 4pm in the auditorium and should conclude within one hour.
5PM – Cocktail and Social Hour
A non-alcoholic punch will be served in the main lobby after the meeting. This will allow participants to get together and meet each other as part of a homecoming and reunion of Dubé family members. A cash bar will be available.
6PM – Dinner
Amongst other events during the dinner, ADA will honour Dr. Jean-Claude Dubé, historian, author and retired University of Ottawa professor and longtime member of ADA.
