Joseph Dube and Philomene Nadeau: Lineage Resolved
Few genealogical problems have held as much attention of genealogists and researchers as the lineage of Joseph Dubé and Philomène Nadeau. Numerous research initiatives by l’Association des Dubé d’Amérique in past years, have yielded limited results. Thanks to a strong support by members and family of the Ottawa-Gatineau area and by the staunch loyalty of some long-time members, all 96 seats for the closing dinner of the annual meeting have been sold.
This is also true for the trolleybus that will give a 90 minute guided tour through Ottawa and Gatineau on Saturday afternoon. If we include all those who may be coming just for the day or general meeting and those coming for the genealogy booth, we are assured of a very lively day.
2009 General Meeting of the Association des Dube d'Amerique (ADA)
The ADA annual general meeting will be held for the first time outside the province of Quebec on Saturday October 3rd. The meeting will take place at the Library and Archives Canada, 395 Wellington St., Ottawa, a very beautiful and prestigious facility close to Parliament Hill. Home of the Canadian Genealogy Centre, and with free parking on weekends, we will have use of the auditorium, two luxurious foyers and a dining room seating 96 people. The 2009 meeting will be an all-day event.
It seldom happens that the connection of a recent Dubé member to his Mathurin ancestor cannot be solved by means of the repertory of our publication on the descendants of Mathurin Dubé and Marie Campion. It is however what occurred recently during the adhesion of Gilbert Dubé of Boca Raton, Florida.
By using the abundant data on his card of inscription and the file of the cases compiled during the preparation of the repertory, it was possible to go up his line to several generations....
The third and last major step in developing the Association des Dube s website has been reached. After bringing online the French version of our basic site on October 6, 2007, and using the following months to gradually expand the contents of the Members Only section, an intensive translation program started in February has brought us to successful realization of this project. The ADA's Board of Directors has tied our 2008 Annual Meeting to two special events: the celebrations marking Quebec City's 400th anniversary and a visit by the Association des Dube du Grand-Ouest, the group of our Dube friends living in France.
